While many similar organizations have just begun to file suit behind the green wave, wešve been innovators. As one of the first suppliers to join the U.S. Green Building council, we've used the vast knowledge afforded to us to develop a product line of the most environmentally friendly manufacturers. Belden Brick Sales and Service is now the leader in quality, LEEDŽ friendly masonry solutions. The task of certifying a LEEDŽ project falls not only on the design and construction team but also on the many supportive entities associated with the project. Belden Brick Sales and Service has a LEEDŽ AP on staff to ensure that our products also come with the proper data, submittals and anything else necessary to assist in making your projects go that much smoother.

Site Selection Credit 7.1 Heat Island Effect (non-roof)

Use Elgin Butler solar tile throughout courtyards, outdoor meeting and recreation areas and parking garages.

Use brick pavers from The Belden Brick Co., Pacific Clay and Boral Brick in a flexible brick pavement system and achieve an open grid pavement system which can allow up to 50% imperviousness through open joints and the natural absorption of water through clay material.

Almost all of the materials we sell: brick, block, structural tile, stone products and glass products are diverted out of waste and used. Unused masonry units will typically go back into stock or get used as backfill and for future patchwork. Many of the originally unusable pieces delivered to a site will be used as cut pieces for shapes or around utilities. Unit masonry is rarely put into the waste stream.

Materials and Resources Credit 4.1 and 4.2 Recycled Content

Cunningham Brick Company uses up to 83% of materials diverted from the post-consumer waste stream in their manufacturing processes.

Jenkins Brick Company utilizes recycled methane gas from municipal landfills to fire their new state of the art kilns.

Boral Brick also utilizes both recycled methane gas and alternative fuel sources like wood-waste products.

Materials and Resources Credit 5.1 and 5.2 Regional Materials

Achieve these credits using our 7 regionally manufactured brick companies The Cunningham Brick Company (474 miles) , Lee Brick (465 miles). The Belden Brick Company (397 miles) , Hanson Brick (322 miles), Harmar (301 miles), Rocky Ridge (192 Miles) and KF (102 miles).

Anchor Concrete Products manufactures an extensive range of architectural concrete block products at several New Jersey locations (7 miles).

What would our brick and block products be without the mortar that holds them together? Lehigh Cement Company produces high quality colored mortar in locations in New Jersey (30 miles) and Pennsylvania (102 miles).

Indoor Environmental Quality Credit 4.2 Low Emitting Materials (Paints & Coatings)

Achieve this credit using a combination of Elgin Butler structural facing tile, Cove base and Quik-base units, Jerusalem Gardens Stone, McIntyre Tile and Anchor Concrete Products for coating and VOC free interior partitions that only require a single trade to install (and with minimum waste). These products also require little to no maintenance or repainting.

Indoor Environmental Quality Credit 8.1 and 8.2 Daylight Views

Achieve a limitless amount of exposure to natural light with IBP Glass Flooring and Block. The material can be translucent but not transparent and can open up sunless partitions to healthy sunlight.
